Ofsted 'doubts data' |
|
A major UK education body is pressing on with publishing its annual league tables, despite calls for an IT audit. Ofsted says it will continue to produce its data into children's services, shortly after it called the information provided by some councils into question, reports Localgov.co.uk. Christine Gilbert, chief inspector for the body, has sparked reports of a need for a data audit after she threw doubt over whether figures provided by Haringey children's services are accurate. Gareth Davies, managing director of local government at the Audit Commission, told the news provider that information used is monitored. He said: "The Audit Commission and its partner inspectorates continually monitor the quality of the data they use, and this is an area for constant development." The controversy has arisen after it emerged inspectors awarded Haringey, the area in which Baby P died, was awarded a level of "good" based, in part, on council provided data shortly before the child died. |
