Information needs to be secured at data level |

A leading security expert has said that information loss is set to increase if companies do not secure it at data level. McAfee, the security software vendor, has said that business directors are increasingly approaching their IT departments with the need to secure data, to avoid a public loss case, reports Info World. Andrew Berkuta, senior security strategist at McAfee, said: "It's an interesting paradigm. They're the ones that have to sign off and will be held accountable in the press, and they're scared." Following recent reports that some people believe top bosses should face a prison sentence if their company loses important data, it seems businesses have become more aware of the need to secure the information. Mr Berkuta added that securing items like memory sticks is essential as criminals can just walk away with "the company jewels" in their pocket, reports the website. By securing the information at data level the company will ensure that wherever it goes it will be encrypted. |
