ISO/IEC 19770-2 Software Identification Tag
The ISO/IEC 19770-2 standard that specifies software identification tags is now available to purchase from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) website. This standard provides a highly structured, cross-platform, cross-vendor definition for software identification details and removes many of the complexities involved in software discovery/inventory procedures that the SAM ecosystem must deal with today.
The standard provides many positive benefits for the Software Asset Management (SAM) market such as reduced costs and increased software identification accuracy. The benefactors include software publishers, tool and service providers and software purchasing organisations.
The tags allow software publishers, tool and service providers and software purchasing organisations, to accurately identify products installed on a computing device as either a stand-alone application, or as part of a suite (among other details).
