Alex has spent his 25 year working career in the software industry, with 12 of those years at Microsoft managing the UK anti-piracy, compliance and evolving Software Asset Management business.

In 2006, Alex joined Centennial Software as head of global sales, and in 2008 Centennial was acquired by FrontRange Solutions where Alex is now head of their Infrastructure Management line of business.

Alex is non Exec Board Director of FAST and the current Chair of the Software Industry Research Board (SIRB)

He is married with four children, and keen cyclist and skier.

Steve joined Oracle in July 1987 after 15 successful years in the IT industry ranging from global services director to new business sales manager. During his Oracle career Steve has held a number of senior positions across the organisation prior to taking the current role as License Management Director for UK, Ireland and Israel in December 2009.

Steve's background is strong in customer service, he brings this expertise to LMS helping his team drive education for customers and partners in order they can manage their Oracle software license estate. With his networks across the business and customer base, Steve is able to focus on transparent cooperation for compliance and Oracle license education.

Steve's focus this past year has been on Software Asset Management and Corporate Governance.

A key member of the IiS team responsible for drafting the ISO Standard for SAM 19770-1 and recognised as a pioneer in the development of SAM assessment methodologies and managed services Stephen has a wealth of best practice and practical experience. A leading authority in the development of best practices and solutions, Stephen is responsible for the development of Software Asset Management and License Management solutions, delivering benefits to Computacenter’s extensive base of enterprise clients.

David Bicket, Convener of the ISO working group, Software Asset Management ('SAM') standards

Workshop 3 & 11 :
Achieving ISO SAM in stages

David has extensive experience in IT commercial and operational best practice, and audits of these areas. He is the Convener of the ISO working group responsible for Software Asset Management ('SAM') standards (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC7 WG21 or 'WG21'). He project-managed and contributed extensively to the ITIL SAM Guide; was responsible for writing much of ISO/IEC 19770-1:2006 Software Asset Management Processes; and has developed a guide for license management in outsourcing. He has also worked extensively for more than a decade in audits of IT resellers and partners for major software vendors.

David is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Information System Auditor, and a Chartered Banker (ACIB). He has worked in the IT industry for over 40 years. He has lived and worked extensively throughout the UK, US, Western and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

Key requirements and milestones to move up the maturity curve

Amanda Sleight currently has a duel role at Microsoft UK Ltd, as the Director for SAM and Anti-Piracy and the Corporate Accounts Director for Microsoft UK. Amanda has been the Anti-Piracy Director the last 5 years and has taken responsibility for Corporate Accounts in the last month. The goal of this team is to reduce Piracy and drive good Software Asset Management through education, license compliance engagement's and enforcement. Amanda's team has been instrumental in driving Software Asset management into the UK business space and she was a key contributor to the creation of the ISO Standard and the SAM Optimisation model now being adopted by many UK organisations.

As a ten year veteran of Microsoft, Amanda has had multiple roles across the Enterprise space as well as the Microsoft Channel and Small and Medium business space. Previously to Microsoft she was based in South Africa working for various IT organisations focusing on delivery IT solutions directly and through partners.

Next Generation SAM - bringing it all together - reducing software spend costs whilst improving user satisfaction

Mark is the Regional Product Manager for Symantec’s Altiris products in EMEA. Mark has been with Altiris and then Symantec for 6 years, working in both a technical and management perspective, before moving to Product Management.

Mark has worked for several years advising customers on how to implement SAM, Systems Management, ITIL Servicedesk and Security Management from a tools and process perspective. Marks primary focus is on gathering feedback on real world use cases to be part of Symantec’s Altiris offering, and to communicate the direction and vision of Symantec’s Altiris offering to external parties

Mike has over 20 year's industry experience split between Corporate IT Management and delivering Outsourcing solutions to global clients. Successes include some of the largest IT outsourcing deals in the UK and Europe and involvement in many strategic global IT initiatives. This ideal balance between Gamekeeper and Poacher provides the ability to distinguish between what is real and what is 'vendor-ware'. With this mix of cynicism and pragmatism Mike has been studying the development of 'Cloud Services', in particular SaaS models.

Workshop 8 & 10 :
Taking the steps towards licence compliance and effective licence management with SAM

Adrian is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply with extensive experience in the procurement of complex ITC requirements in the Public, Defence and Private Market Sectors, within the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Having spent over 20 years in various interim and permanent procurement roles, this diverse experience has been of benefit when seeking to challenge established business processes and practises.

The MoJ is seen as having not only one of the largest IT landscapes in Government (total spend of over £550million) but also one of the most complex. The MOJ Procurement Directorate is responsible for the purchase of ICT Goods and Service supporting in around 100,000 people (including probation services) across the criminal justice environment. Opportunities within the MoJ are varied presenting significant challenges; the ICT Teams are expected to drive change in the cause of delivering a better criminal justice service.

Virtualisation and software licensing

After completing a National Diploma in Computer Studies in 1989, Pierre spent the next 10 years working with various city organisations in operating and designing their mid-range and distributed computing systems. Pierre then joined Computacenter in 1997 from an IBM Business Partner, leading the integration and transformation of large-scale distributed computing infrastructures focused in Retail Banking.

Pierre is currently the Solutions Director for Workplace & Software across Computacenter's client base. Primary responsibilities include the strategy, sales, marketing, vendor alignment and implementation of Computacenter's portfolio of workplace and software based solutions and services. Pierre's team work with corporate and public sector clients to provide advice and guidance across the entire lifecycle of end-user infrastructure including the delivery of solutions to source, transform and manage their workplace technology. Pierre also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool and sits on a number of vendor and partner advisory councils.
