11.00 WORKSHOP 2: Considerations for outsourcing your SAM programme
Many organisations lack the resources, skills or time to develop and run a mature SAM process internally. This session will work through the key considerations when looking to advance your SAM maturity including options for outsourcing or using a managed service provider.
11.00 WORKSHOP 3: Achieving ISO SAM In Stages
ISO SAM for processes (“dash 1”) has been around for over three years. While considered good for its comprehensiveness, it has been viewed as too ambitious by some organizations. It is therefore now being revised to allow attainment in tiers, with no requirement to proceed further than an organization wishes. The first tier is for ‘trustworthy data’, also sometimes called ‘repeatable license compliance processes’. This session will give an overview of the proposed update, including what is covered in each tier. The session will also briefly cover other ISO SAM developments, including “dash 2” for software identification which has recently been published.
11.00 WORKSHOP 4: Key requirements and milestones to move up the maturity curve
12.00 WORKSHOP 5: Next Generation SAM – bringing it all together – reducing software spend costs whilst improving user satisfaction
The capability of SAM has come a long way from simply identifying what software is installed on machines within an organisation. Customers are now realising the benefits and additional cost savings of using integrated technologies that work together to achieve advanced SAM process automation and seamless software harvesting. Understand how your users can be supported for their application requirements through a self-request service catalogue, whilst integrated technologies such as software inventory, software usage, software catalogue, software virtualisation and software delivery work together to deliver a cutting-edge SAM service within an organisation.
